The Literacy Council of St. Petersburg’s community based classes improve the literacy skills of our learners and serve as a pipeline into our preparation for the GED® classes. All classes are designed to improve learners’ reading, writing, language, math, and technology skills. Lessons may be delivered individually, or in small groups and address goal-specific objectives that are defined during the orientation process.

Most often, our students come to us through referrals from our numerous community-based partner organizations. When a student calls, he/she will be invited to attend an orientation and will be assessed before being placed in an appropriate program, based on their reading skills and geographic proximity.
